Carpet care

Care

• Vacuum often. High-traffic rooms daily if you can; the whole carpet weekly. Use a vacuum with a rotating brush on most cut-pile. Use suction-only on ultra-soft styles such as Shaw Caress.
• Put walk-off mats at outside doors and keep them clean so sand never works into the pile.
• Blot spills immediately with a white cloth. Scrape solids first. Never rub. Work from the outside of the spot in.
• Use a cleaner the mill names (Shaw Total Care / R2X for Shaw; CRI Seal of Approval products for Engineered Floors and Anderson Tuftex).
• Do not use bleach, ammonia, tile cleaner, oven cleaner, or benzoyl peroxide on the fiber.
• Have the carpet professionally cleaned by hot-water extraction on a CRI-approved system. Shaw asks for this at least every 18 months; Engineered Floors and Dream Weaver every 12–18 months; Anderson Tuftex at least every 24 months. Skipping this can void the stain warranty.

Warranty

• Dream Weaver / Engineered Floors carpet warranties are fiber-dependent. Many PureColor styles carry lifetime stain, fade, and (on named fibers) pet-stain terms, plus 25-year soil and wear language.
• Warranties run to the original owner and are not transferable.
• A new pad — commonly 3/8 inch, 5-pound minimum — is required on many letters. Skipping professional hot-water extraction on the published schedule can void stain coverage.

Laminate and vinyl care

Care

• Sweep, dust, or vacuum with a hard-floor tool. No beater bar.
• Blot spills as they happen. Do not let liquid stand on the joints.
• Damp-mop with a laminate or hard-surface cleaner the mill names (Shaw R2X Hard Surface is the Shaw product). No mop-and-bucket flood, no steam mop, no oil soap, no wax, no citrus or ammonia cleaners.
• Felt pads under furniture. Do not slide appliances across the floor.

Warranty

• Hard-surface terms follow the collection. Luxury vinyl wear, stain, and fade coverage is commonly 10 to 30 years residential depending on wear-layer thickness.
• Keep a carton label. The style name on the ticket is the warranty.

Care

• Sweep or vacuum with a hard-floor tool. No beater bar.
• Damp-mop with a pH-neutral vinyl cleaner. COREtec names Encore; most mills accept a neutral pH hard-surface cleaner.
• Wipe spills right away. The wear layer is waterproof; standing water at the walls and flooding of the subfloor are not.
• No steam mop, no wax, no oil soap, no abrasive pads, no bleach stronger than a light dilution the mill allows.
• Skip rubber-backed mats. They can discolor vinyl.
• Use pads under furniture and chairs.

Warranty

• Engineered Floors LVF letters cover manufacturing defect plus wear, stain, and fade of the printed layer for the term printed on that style.
• Wear means the print is gone, not a scratch or a gloss change.

Artistic Design Studio warrants materials and labor for one year on work we sold and installed. The mill letter above is separate and often longer. We keep the order so a factory claim has a ticket. See the studio warranty.
